Big Chef takes on Little Chef – Channel 4

Type: Print

Little Chef has been an iconic British brand for decades, serving up no-nonsense fast food to the nation’s hungry travellers. But 50 years down the road the chain is in trouble. Britain’s palate has moved forward while its motorway cuisine is stuck in reverse. Enter Heston Blumenthal; can the creator of bacon and egg ice cream be the change the chain is looking for?

I designed the new menu and comments card which were printed and used within the television show produced for Channel 4.

My role: Print designer.

Alien Invasion – Bowland Maths

As the invasion goes on, there are live TV news bulletins, radio broadcasts and telephone messages that tell teachers and students what is happening. To help resist the invasion, students need to find a way out of a series of problems by solving them as the story goes on. Students need to discuss the problems and think about them and also think up ideas for solving them! This is a multimedia teaching aid which will run on any school interactive whiteboard system. There are traditional downloadable and printable worksheets and teacher resource sheets for use inside the classroom.

My role: Designer of downloadable resources for teachers and pupils.

Butterfly Garden – HMC Interactive

Type: Installation

HMC Interactive created the Butterfly Garden as a portable attraction, ideal for parties, promotional events or any public space. The memorable interactive illusion creates digital butterflies that fly around a beautiful centrepiece of white lillies. Born in the palm of your hand, the interactive creatures flutter from flower to flower, until they eventually fly off into the ether.

My role: Designer. My role in this project was to hardwire up the sensors in the flowers and assemble the interactive. I was on hand at Submerge in Bristol and at the Wedding Fair in Devon as technical support.
